How do you work!?

I disagree, but to each their own. I use the online documentation every day with bookmarks to the Language Reference and new Framework pages.
I think the LR would be more useful if it was more integrated into the IDE. I’d like it showing in its own pane in the IDE, with the ability to show/hide it with a keyboard shortcut, as we can do with the Inspector.

But as this might be a bigger project, I suggested a stopgap measure of having the LR searchfield into the main Xojo IDE toolbar. This would increase visibility (and hopefully usage) of the LR to everyone, particular newbies. Here is the Feedback case: <https://xojo.com/issue/34777>
I prefer to use the LR though a browser. At least I can have all the real estate I want and not be limited if I want to bookmark or drag a shortcut into a folder. But having a search field in the IDE should not be so difficult, when apparently the LR works by an URL query :

http://documentation.xojo.com/index.php?search=quicktime&go=Go&title=Special%3ASearch

I prefer an up-to-date “dash” doc set.

Exactly. I think it might encourage better use of the LR. It would still open in a separate window. (The argument for an integrated documentation pane is a separate argument).

When you use the online it’s basically a web browser - it goes to the web site for help etc
When you use the local it stays local
That way people can use the LR offline - something you cant do if you require being online to use the LR
