Great Pi or laptop 2nd Screen

So I came back from MBS Conference in Berlin (thanks again Christian for a great few days) inspired to do a bit more with web and RasPi. The problem I have with my Pi which had yet to see the light of day was a monitor as small and portable as it is just to play on the dining room table when I get a few minutes here and there. I have a spare 24 inch monitor that is always connected for testing and fixing PC’s and didn’t want it permanently connected to that so I went online to find something more portable. I found a great little monitor that fits the bill for me and wanted to share. The price is a ‘little expensive’ for what it is but it comes with all cables, PSU, stand, etc. and the picture on it is excellent. It also doubles up as a ‘second screen’ on my laptop as well. Thought i’d mention it here in case others may be interested, as I spent all day on the machine yesterday playing with PI remote debugging.

Another option is the official Raspberry Pi display. It’s not perfect for all uses, as it’s only 7", but it’s great for a little remote testing and various other applications and it’s only about £49 + VAT. For simplicity/tidiness, you can even mount the Pi on the back of the display and it will take its power from the display itself, so you only require one power cable.

I bought a Pi case as well (i don’t use the Lego bits) with the 7" touchscreen for a web-based ‘check in/check out’ system I have developed that currently uses an expensive wall mounted tablet. As you say, all neat, pi in the back, mounts on the wall and the touchscreen allows people to do the check in and out at about a quarter the cost of the current tablet!
