Good text for explaining "Unified Modeling Language"

Do you have a good source for explaining Unified Modeling Language or Data Modeling?

I am also interested in different methods.

I first read about this in my Data Structures class over twenty years ago.

One of the best so far to explain this is in the xDev Magazine back in issue 7.3.
The article was “How To Read A Data Model” by Craig Boyd.

The reason I am asking is I borrowed some books from the library and they didn’t explain the figures in illustrations. It was annoying to know that rounded corners meant something and it wasn’t explained.

I’m tempted to go buy a Schaum’s book because I have had good success with their line of books.

I’ve got this UML book and find it useful

+1, a very useful reference.
