I discovered that if you mute a conversation, but DO NOT click the “gold star” first… you continue to get notifications… meaning you have to respond, unmute the conversation, turn off the notification star, and re-mute the conversation.
I would think that if someone muted the conversation, email notifications for that topic should be muted automatically as well.
My conversion got deleted after muting it. I don’t know if muting is enough to stop other members viewing your thread? Does it just block people from posting or what?
Please explain.

Muting doesn’t delete the thread for other people nor block them from posting in it. It just mutes it for you and removes it from your view.
If you click MUTE (under Controls) it take the conversation off YOUR list… others still see it… but you don’t
