Do you carry your laptops around?
I’d never do any such thing! I always tape it to my lap and walk around with it that way. After all, if it was to be used in any other way why would it be called a LAPtop…?
(sorry, it’s friday ;))
@Albin Kiland: hahahah… you are so funny. No. I’m wondering why people buy a laptop and then have it on the desk for 8-10 hours. Doesn’t fit my useage at all.
Well, I wonder whether we should wait.
And order maybe on Thanks Giving, when someone sells them cheaper?
As 5K display is not yet ready, I have to wait anyway.
Because it is really quiet, and because just occasionally you DO have to take it with you (eg visiting your in-laws in New Zealand for a few weeks, give a presentation somewhere).
Yes, I go to NYC once or twice a week and need it there, and when I’m working on a show or otherwise out of town I carry it with me. Years ago I had a desktop computer for my office and a laptop for travel, but I was bad at keeping them synced and we often don’t have internet in the theaters, so I now use a laptop for everywhere, plus a large external monitor whenever possible (for drafting).
i use a laptop 98% of the time. and I am mobile not sitting at my desk for 90% of that time. the only desktops I really have bought in the last 10 years are either for PC gaming or for making a server out of. And generally I buy small computers so they are portable. Not laptop portable but portable.

Thats good news !
RAM is 8MB standard (for that price !) and 16MB max.
I have 16MB on my MBP mid-2014. Nice, but I always better quit any application before thinking to fire Xojo to start a programming session (not because of RAM low, but application inter-actions with Xojo IMHO).
May there be light (in 2017) ?

But there is plenty time to wait !
Of course … and you can even wait 5 years longer and get an ever better MBP.
Jean-Paul Devulder just released V3 of his plugins for Mac, and they support the Touchbar
Christoph:
the article was talking about lower prices for higher features (and a brand new CPU, not Kabby Lake). But, yes, you are right.
MBS Plugins come also with TouchBar classes.
But no touchbar to test yet.
I will upload them soon.
Took a look at the website.
I havent downloaded , so I still have no idea what he sells , other than ‘controls’.
Probably a few pictures would help…

dtPlugins is about essential when you create macOS and iOS apps. It has tons of much-needed controls not available in Xojo by default. All the macOS and iOS native controls are very easy to implement in your projects.
Jean-Paul is also very responsive in fixing/adding stuff. Highly recommended for sure.
BTW you can try it for free.
The only thing Jean-Paul should do, is cleaning up the examples. atm it is a bit messy.

He makes great stuff but his messaging/marketing doesn’t reach anywhere near the same level. Regardless, you can download them and try them out yourself.
Jean Paul has the language barrier. That explains a lot his terce communication. But he tries his best to assist, and I can attest to his very efficient and prompt support.
Without dtPlugins for iOS, I could not create my last application, Xojo having never understood that an iOS business app needs to print. And probably any graphic application as well.
Likewise. My point was directed at people who haven’t used his plugins to not be put off by the poor marketing because you’ll be missing out if you do.
FWIW, a while back I offered to edit his marketing and docs for better English.
Maybe you are to offer that again. I will gladly help as well if he wants to.
