Have you actually tried because - setup takes no more that a few minutes, there is nothing to pay and you don’t need an internet connection…
You can check them in the same way as everything else, you just have less features available on binary files - no search and limited compare.
I check everything relating to a project into Git - source code, design documents, images, screen captures etc…
