Eugene Dakin’s book about web apps

Hello,

Is Eugene Dakin’s book ‘Begin Programming Xojo Web’ still relevant? It’s 10 years old by now but I cannot find any newer material.

I am branching out from desktop apps to web apps. I am worried about creating a web app but screwing it up in some way and compromising user data. I would really like a proper beginners guide.

If the contents are 10 years old, then no. Xojo since 2020 is using a different web platform (called Xojo Web 2) that is too different than old Xojo Web 1.

You can always ask here in the forum and we will try to help.

@AlbertoD is correct. 10 years is too old for API2. I keep this book available for those who still use API and have web apps.

Warm regards.

Any chance of an update? :grinning:

Hi Craig,

The short answer is maybe?

I have been busy with mainly electronics in other programming languages lately, and converting existing books from API 1 to API2 has been a low priority.

I have all of the information to write a book on web apps in API2, and just haven’t had the spare time to write it.

Sure, I understand.
I would certainly love to see it, but priorities are what they are.

Eugene,
Thank you for your reply. I love your books and they have been very helpful for me while I have been learning Xojo.

Thank you AlbertoD,
I shall likely have to resort to asking questions on this forum. For now I shall continue to read the documentation and scour the internet for answers to my questions. I prefer to use forums as a last resort.

You should ask on the forum as your first resort. You will get the best and most up to date answers. Most info on the net is going to be out of date.
