encrypted databases

Ok, so I know that this question may be kind of broad… but can anyone point me in the right direction for the following?

  1. I want to be able to edit SQL databases (or any kind whatever’s easier) in a wysiwyg sorta editor and then be able to edit and connect to them on a remote server… and they need to be encrypted… Halp ?

You want CubeSQL.

Thanks so how do you connect to a database on a server

They provide a Xojo plugin. Though be aware that connecting to a database outside a VPN or LAN is I’ll-advised.

Any secure connection suggestions

What flavor of database server are you planning to use?

I’m literally just going to host the database “file” in a directory. I’m assuming based on your question, I will need to connect through some daemon hosted on my server as well ? It’s 64bit CentOS 6.4
