Encoding is different in Mail for iOS and Mail for MacOS?

One of my apps sends emails using the SMTPSecureSocket class.
When viewed in Mail for iOS, the encoding of the subject is wrong (e.g. “Test du système”), while the message itself is fine. In Mail for MacOS, both parts are correct.

Since the message part has a correct encoding, I guess I shouldn’t bother with headers, which I don’t know enough anyway.

Wondering if someone already experienced this issue and resolved it :man_shrugging:.

You could encode the subject line as an encoded word.

Do you mean I could tell the correct encoding for the rendering app?
I’m not sure what you mean by an “encoded word” :man_shrugging:.
Thanks for your answer.

This is essentially obligatory if the subject line is not pure ASCII.

Encoded word. Look it up in Wikipedia. (Sorry - on a train going in and out of tunnels).

No problem, I’ll take a look. Thank you for the hint!

The encoded word starts with =? and ends with ?= and includes information about the encoding method (base64 or quoted printable) and the encoding (eg UTF8) and also the encoded data.

Ah, I remember having seen that sometimes. I’ll take a look, thank you.

Using encoded words is working; thanks again!
