Differentiating between a web request and a TCP request

Is there a way of me being able to tell the difference between

SHOWURL("server:5555")

and

telnet server 5555

It doesn’t look like Session.Open, HandleURL fire when using telnet, when they do using ShowURL.

Thanks

Lee

You won’t get telnet connections in any of those web framework mechanisms unless you send along http headers.

If I create a new web project with the default port of 8080

Running telnet I get this:

telnet 127.0.0.1 8080 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'.

Well yeah, but that won’t appear as an event anywhere. All that is, is a connection with no protocol attached. Like I said, you would need to send along some http headers to get the app to respond.

These connections never seem to timeout and without any event or property to check I can’t close them.

They won’t disconnect until the client does.
