Have a customer that has claimed his copy of my application is a demo, purchased from the Apple Store. He also stated he paid $19.99, product, at time he said the purchased it was $14.99.
I think the user saw on my site a newer version and downloaded the demo, overwriting his MAS purchase. The demo with a serial number becomes a full working app.
I had problems geting MAS to upload (version number), then the holidays delay.
Has anyone had a similar problem? What did you do?
Not with MAS but Ive had customers do similar things.
The price difference may well be tax.
Trouble with the MAS store is that you cannot track customer records yourself. meaning that support has to occur on trust.
If he deletes the app, he can redownload from the MAS
If thats not on for some reason, save yourself the pain and send him a copy of your working current version.
Its much less hassle than trying to fight about it as he can easily ask for a refund and/or leave a bad review.
Whereas if you treat him nicely, you’ll feel good and he will too.
Check it isn’t a scammer. I sometimes get requests for refunds from my web site, but as all registrations sold include the email address I can tell who is genuine. For MAS apps, they must get refunds through Apple.
My Xojo code jumps over all registration when built as a MAS app and removes all registration menus and timers. This way I can easily tell if they have MAS app or not.
+1
Important.
Even when someone has a valid gripe.
If you refund at retail price, its costing you about 50% more than it would if Apple do it: they take 30% of your sale price.
