Comvette revisited! (with video)

Hey guys,

I just made a video talking about my Comvette Project (https://www.comvette.com) Let me know what you think of it. I’ve never done this kind of thing before so it might be a little less polished than I’d have liked but it still conveys my enthusiasm for the project and Xojo!

Here’s a video from YouTube that shows the instrument cluster in action:

It appears that I botched the explanation of the digital displays inner workings. I got things out of order. Here’s the way it actually works:

  1. The Glyph palette that contains the individual images is first copied to a new canvas.

  2. The contents of the new canvas is ‘re-colored’ by performing a search and replace operation on any pixels that are White and replacing them with the desired color.

  3. A second search and replace operation is performed to replace any Black pixels with a color that implies an unlit portion of an image.

  4. The entire new canvas image is then ‘skewed’ by a specified number of degrees to make the images lean to the right.

The original Glyph palette remains unmodified and is used to create two new glyph palettes that are colored and skewed as appropriate for the FM Frequency display and the Digital Clock display.

Also, the glyph palettes are oversized so that when they are used, the images that are extracted from them will be scaled down and will have a smoother appearance.

Defining what you mean with “Comvette” woul be a good idea, since Google is no help (it list a multidute of different stuff…).

TIA

At 7:11 I do mention the meaning of Comvette. Also, if you do a Google search, Google will automatically assume you might have meant Corvette and offers the option to search for “Comvette” exclusively. Clicking that option narrows the search dramatically.

OK, so it is abour the car.

Sorry, I do not understand at first (as too often is the case).

And sometimes, I am unclear.

I may be older that what I think :frowning:

Unfortunately, I nearly never look at videos. The last time it was to know how to add the simm card to my iPhone and have to look around 10 minutes to get that (simple) information. In the shop they gave me the iPhone and ask for the money (no good bye too). grr. They believe everybody knows (and I told them “I have my previous phone since 15 years ago”)…

Regards.

@Wes_Westhaver,

Well done! This program looks very professional.
