Cannot built any 64 bit or ARM

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me why I cannot build any 64 bit apps, or ARM apps?
No errors are given
The Builds folder is created in every case but is empty
No indication that it is done - or not is given

For 32 bit apps - except ARM:
The builds folder is created
The folder is opened when finished compiling
The folder is populated.

I have deleted all of the temporary folders too.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Tim

What platform are you building from?

Sorry - that would have helped.
Win7 64 home premium

This sounds similar to <https://xojo.com/issue/41222>.

Does an empty or “Hello world” app build for you?

I don’t know. I tried 2 of mine, but will try a sample. The last one to try was a console app.
Tim

I just tried the “sort algorithms” sample.
It did work, even opening the folder when complete - windows 64, Linux64, Linux Arm.

Tim

So, now that it is known it works, how to find out why it does not work on my apps?

Tim

You should attach one of your projects privately to a feedback report so we can take a look.

Hi Travis,
It has been attached to Feedback Case #41222.

IMHO, this should be sticky.

Unless working under a NDA, personally I have no problems uploading my projects even some kind of secrets we all keep. It’s beneficial for everybody.

Thanks. I can see you use both MBS and Einhugur plugins- are you sure you are using the absolute latest versions that just added 64-bit support? I can build your project without a problem, but not having proper plugin support could be the root cause of your issue.

I believe they are. But will download new ones again. What are the dates of yours?

Tim

I grabbed the latest MBS beta (from Oct 20 I think) and Einhugur off their site.

Hi Travis,

I got the latest from the Einhuger website, and that did allow the app to be compiled.
However, I would strongly suggest some type of indicator is added so that at least the user knows that it failed, and even if you do not know the root cause you can offer, as you did here, some suggestions.

Thanks again!

The compiler is supposed to and has done so in all the cases I’ve tried.

Well it didn’t in any of my cases. A screen shot won’t help since there is nothing to show. I could make a movie for anyone doubting.

Tim

Oh, I’m not saying you didn’t run into a bug in the compiler where it didn’t generate an error when it should have – just that there is already one meant to be there.

I know. I was not throwing any rocks your way - and I know your weren’t throwing any at me

I think I have the plugins still in the recycle bin; I can zip them so they can be used with the project I uploaded earlier to recreate the issue.
