buttons on interface grayed out

I have an interface with lots of buttons. Each button runs an Applescript.

when I run the file, the buttons are gray, you can’t click them.
how do I get data from a text box so it can be used in an Applescript.
my file is only 218k if you want to see it.

Are they enabled? Are they enclosed within another control and is that control enabled?
