It’s the O/S. Remove ™ from your Keyboard|Text prefpane.

I know I can do that. But this is not the question here. Why is Xojo suddenly implementing the IDE editors like that? They should – and can – suppress it and then no autocorrection popup appears and no replacement is done.

I thought you were asking about a specific issue, not all new editor bugs (for which I obviously don’t have an answer).

EDIT: Just checked 2015 R2.4 and it exhibits the same behaviour, so not so new…

You should file a bug report. Recently Norman fixed very rapidly the curly quotes thing in the code editor. I am sure he can do something about what you encounter.
