I believe what you are talking about are control sets. Yes, they can be very handy and are easy to set up and use. I can’t really determine what you are doing from the pic, but control sets are probably a good idea.
I’m making a specialized calculator that produces the same as in the image you see above. This calculator is targeted to leather and rawhide braiders. It’s purpose is to have a way to generate the figures and produce a run list of the sequences handled by a listbox. Mainly, a way to record what was done so that the braider can come back to it in the future to either repair or re-produce the same knot.
