Applications "quit unexpectedly" with 2014r2

Upgraded to 2014r2 a few weeks ago. I compile on Windows 7 and 8 and deploy to Linux and OSX from there.
Compiled app now quit with error dialog: “Digitalfire INSIGHT quit unexpectedly.” (it has Ignore, Report and Reopen buttons).
This happens in OSX 10.9.3 and Windows XP. It does not happen in Windows 8.1, 7 or Vista.
I can still compile with 2014r1 and it runs on everything.
Any ideas. Thanks.

If it happens on OS X, then it’s relatively easy to get a crash log which includes a stack trace showing exactly where the crash happened. When it happens, click the Report button, copy & paste the crash log info (you don’t actually have to report it to Apple, in fact it’s probably not helpful to do so)

Setting the “include function names” in the Mac OS build settings to ON helps with that (though me thinks that’s the default).

Click Report and then “show details” to see if can get a clue about the current problem. Then abort the report.

Looks like it’s crashing inside an XML function.

Is this a Carbon app? there’s a xml-related bug which could be relevant:
<https://xojo.com/issue/34508>

Hmmm. Interesting. I will check.

I installed dojo on my Mac 10.9.3 and single stepped. It bombs with the quit unexpectedly dialog at:

dim xml as new XmlDocument

It sounds like this is a Carbon app. Does your test work if you switch to Cocoa?

But, we expect to have this fixed (for Carbon apps) in r2.1.

The Package only has a MacOS folder so I assumed it was CoCoa. But I checked and it is set on Carbon? So I changed it and it appears I have some work to do to satisfy the compiler, will check back here when I find out. If there are any issues that am likely to encounter with this I would like to know. I have been maintaining this commercial app for many years, it needs to run without problems. Thanks.
