It took me a couple of hours doubting myself before I copped on to what was happening…
It looks like, at least, you need to press enter/return for the change to take effect.
I can see it all the way back to 2015r1 (my oldest installed version) on windows, seems to only happen on fields with a pencil at the end. Quite an edge case though.
Well bugs sit around for years, especially when it comes to this terrible IDE.
I think that Xojo should actually make the IDE open-source and concentrate on the language itself, because it is obvious they cannot handle both!

Open sourcing it would kill Xojo
The IDE and compiler ARE their business and the product they sell
@Norman Palardy The Xojo language has been surviving with such a crap IDE. For me, it shows that the language is much stronger than the IDE, otherwise everybody would have flown away!
Today even if you write all your code in BBEdit, NotePad++ or something else you still must use the IDE to compile your project
Never mind trying to write a screen layout in a text editor
You have no choice to use the language independently of the IDE
They are inseparable today
That there are as many users as there are is not indicative of great language or not
Xojo fills a needs that used to have tools like VB to fill that need
That specific need has not gone away
And so people who have the need will find the tool that suits their need
Some choose Livecode, some choose Filemaker, some choose Xojo, some choose Access & VBA applications
Some went so far as to learn Swift & went that direction on Xcode
If it didnt breach some of the EULA I’d suggest you write an alternative IDE for Xojo IF the IDE is
such a crap IDE
You’ll find its a lot harder than it looks
Sounds like there’s a missing call to commit all changes before running
EDIT : - yup I expect thats whats missing
There may already be such a case but its definitely reproducible easily
<https://xojo.com/issue/56287> asked to merge with your case
Added notes and movie to reproduce it easily
@Norman Palardy But who deserves the Xojo IDE? An IDE is supposed to help you coding, whereas the Xojo IDE lacks so many shortcuts that it really stands in the way of developers.
Stphane, some people may disagree with you. Your opinion is clear (thank you for that), but you are not the universal voice. Please don’t act as if you were.
@Louis Desjardins Well it happens that many people agree with me. Of course I do not consider that I have the “only truth” in my hands
complaining about it in the forums is pointless
if you have specific complaints, bugs, features that you’d like to see addressed file feedback reports
