1st Gen Airport Extreme

Tracked down my old 1st Generation Airport Extreme while clearing out the old tech drawer. Not supported by OSX so not much use which is a shame!

Anyone think of a use for one of these things? (besides the bin!)

Extend an existing Wifi network, or as a router, it can be used to create a sub network…

yep - I bought it, primarily, for extending my wifi.

seems OSX no longer supports the 1st generation Airports so I can’t configure it. Looked at installing the old Airport utility but OSX won’t let me a version that old.

Suppose if anyone wants it and is prepared to pay the postage, they can have it!

Are you sure it’s an Airport Extreme?
Apple says it’s supported by latest Airport Utility: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1998

One On The Left

Your quite right Massimo, it’s an express ! :frowning:

Then this could help you putting at work your old Airport Express.

Thanks Massimo - I tried similar but that didn’t work. I’ll give it a go tonight - cheers

FWIW, I was able to get the old version installed and can work with 1st Gen expresses from mountain lion now. So at least one of the tutorials works.
