Raspberry Pi 4 - 8GB RAM - 64 Bits Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Hello All,

I have read on this forum earlier that Xojo IDE won’t work on Raspberry Pi. Still I thought lets give it a chance.

I have just received the new Raspberry Pi 4 with 8 GB RAM. I installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 64 bit server from the official Ubuntu Website. I also downloaded the default desktop environment for Ubuntu 20.04 onto it.

I understand that Xojo works with Linux 64 bit and now my OS is also 64-bit as is the processor Arm-64 bits.

I downloaded the .tgz file, extracted the same and double clicked the Xojo Application file.

Nothing happened… Xojo was not loaded.

So here I am at the this forum to understand the reasons behind the same.

Thanks,

Gaurav

I basically wish understand that when one says Xojo wont work on Raspberry Pi, is it due to the limitations of ARm-64 bit processor vis-a-vis Intel / AMD or is it due to the limitations of the OS.

The Xojo IDE is not compiled for Pi so it wont work there
See http://documentation.xojo.com/resources/system_requirements_for_current_version.html
At the end of the Linux requirements it says “The Xojo IDE does not run on Linux for ARM.”

You CAN compile applications and run them on the Pi but I’m pretty sure they are still 32 bit only
