The technical answer is YES; it can be done, especially if you can do this with Apple Script (you can use Apple Script within Xojo).
The other answer is “Security” protocols will make this harder and harder until it’s not possible, for your own personal use, not a problem. But if you want to distribute an application that can do this, it will not be approved on the Mac App Store, and users outside of the App Store will have to manually allow your application to do this.
Judging by the way how things are going, I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future the technical answer is No.
