Next Release & Android

Was a timeline given at XDC for the next release and if Android will be this year or next year?

no, but it gets sooner as time goes by …

…but it slow down each time that pesky question arise in this forum…

In 2 years from now.

Please join the European Xojo Conference to watch Geoff Perlman in Keynote and second day the Android presentation.

Xojo does not give timelines for releases any more. If you went by the original timeline when Android was announced and at one of the MBS conferences it’s well over a year late. So the cynical person in me says we’ll be lucky to see it in 2019. We still have App Hardening for macOS, API 2.0, and Web 2.0 that I expect this year but I could see Web 2.0 easily slipping to next year.

At any rate, don’t hold any project for Xojo Android. You would disappoint customers by having them wait with you.

If you really need to produce an Android app just now, consider Google’s Android Studio at https://developer.android.com/studio/ and https://www.lifewire.com/top-books-on-android-app-development-2373595.

@Bob Keeney what is API 2.0 I appear to have missed anything about this?

API 2.0 appears to be an expanded, advanced version of the Classic Framework, rather than continue to build out the newer Xojo Framework for Desktop apps.

See XDC 2019 Keynote Recap

It makes sense to me, so I’m looking forward to it.

Thanks @Scott Cadillac

I also did a recap of API 2.0 at https://www.bkeeneybriefs.com/2019/05/xdc-2019-api-2-0/

Nobody looks at http://docs.wojo.com/ lately ?

Why?

What is wojo?

wojo

Not really sure what you are saying as I looked on the docs page before asking the question and could not find anything.

a. wojo is a typo. Mojo is real (music). I meant Xojo.

b. So, nobody looks there or I have by pure hazard a special access (this cannot be, never been).

Usually, I am great at reading the first line (or paragraph) and skip the important second line (or paragraph).

You don’t.
We can see it.
What are you saying? I see nothing about Android

I was answering to the above statement.

Xojo Android ? Go at your local Libray and search for SciFi, or wait some more months as told above  (sorry).

Edit:
Doh ! I understand: I forgot to comment the statement I was refered to; it was late (for me).

Emile, go to bed
