Development Platform

My newer 15" MacBook Pro had died.
However my 17" is still alive and kicking.
However I do not seem to be able to install XCode on this machine, because it is too old and even the OS won’t upgrade.
Yep it’s time to either give up on mac or go out and buy a new one…
However that’s not going to happen for a few weeks and I need to develop for the iPad.
Anyone got any advice on how I can develop on this 17" with Xojo for the iPad?

Can you install a newer OS in a VMWare session?

or maybe

I don’t have VMWare… the cloud might help.
I didn’t know you could run OS X in VMWare.

And in Parallels, although it is a bit sluggish. The Windows VMs run much faster on my MBP than the OSX VMs.

I’m not sue how running Parallels and WIndows VIM will address this issue.
Am I messing something Perv Mate?

I was just pointing out that the OSX VMs in parallels seem sluggish to me.

No need to install Xcode which was your original issue

Or try https://www.virtualbox.org

Thanks for the tips.

Which at least implies that it IS possible to run MAC OS X in a VM, I guess.
Thanks.

It sure is, I have VMs of all versions of OS X/macOS that I support, all running on my iMac. Great when used with the remote debugger for fast testing.
