Instead of deleting topics, why not make them private?

    Hi,

just an idea which came me.
If you like to hide a posting ,why not make it private to the people participating.
They can talk endless and discuss a topic, but it's no longer visible to others.

Except that the change of members of discussion must be locked.
    Than no topic needs deletion.

It works only if nobody replied.

I think that Christian is talking about the power of the admins. I guess that the OP can't do that but maybe one of the forum admins could change that.

Anybody can make his threads private. Just click on "who can see this conversation" and enter the name(s) of who can see it.

People, learn to read: “why not make it private to the people participating.” aka THEY can continue their discussion or argument in private.

Sorry English is not my first language. And now I am confused.

Christian said, instead of hiding a post, make it private.
Michel said, it works only if nobody replied.
So I guessed that Christian is talking about the forum moderators/admins.
Then Michel say that anybody can make his thread private.
    Markus said learn to read.

So my questions are: if I open a public conversation, I get some answers, then I want to hide the conversation or make it private to the people already in it, can I do that? Can I hide it? Can I make it private? Or I need a moderator to change it?

Christian was talking about topics that Xojo does not like, for example because the discussion got heated. Instead of deleting the thread and playing Big Brother Xojo could just make it a private topic to all participants. That way they can discuss or argue to their hearts content. Suppression on the other hand leads to bad feelings all around.

Yes, exactly. Hide it from the public topic list and let everyone who knows the link continue to reply to the thread.
