VMWare for Windows 10

I am a Mac user and have been using VM Fusion with a Windows 7 virtual machine to test out my apps in Windows.

As my current client is using Windows 10 I was wondering how I can get a virtual machine for VMFusion which is Windows 10. Can somebody more experienced than me advise me how I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Simon.

You can get free VM images pre-built for a variety of different platforms (including VMWARE) and a variety of OS / browser versions direct from Microsoft. The catch is they have a 90-day expiration, but should be good for testing purposes.

Start at this page.

I don’t know about VMWare virtual machines, but our Win 10 installer disc we use at work will upgrade a Win 7 PC using the Win 7 license. Apparently this will work until Dec 31 ( unverified ). This site may help ( I have not used this specific site - our installation media just works ):

you can buy a copy of Win10 and install Win10 in a VM on Mac. I have various versions of Windows (7-10) all running in VMs. Now I have bought the window so they don’t “expire” like the method above. I have downloaded the VMs mentioned above and they work under Fusion.

Depending on your version of Fusion, will depend on which version(s) of Windows work under it. The newer versions work (better) with newer versions of Windows. if you have specific questions about this, please let me know.

The versions don’t expire - the deal allowing the free upgrade supposedly does. Once activated, you are good to go.

Go to Microsoft site and download ISO file for Windows 10.
Also there are trial ones which you can try before you buy as Windows 10 Enterprise too.
After you get ISO file, just use it in VMWare Fusion as media to install from it Windows 10 as VM on your Mac.
It’s easy.
Also suggestion is to make default VM and then make a copy of it and use that copy to play. Tomorrow if you need fresh VM to start over with testing from scratch, just make new copy default VM.
