@Robert W Does anyone know for sure that they aren't targeting other developers as well?

Oh it's very likely they are targeting other developers. Extremely likely.

I just happened to come across this article: the FDA kicked HCL off of the Boeing 787 project for incompetence.

I happened to get nearly the same ad via my Linkedin profile the text reads:

    Hi,
    Are you available in market?

    Roles and Responsiblities:

    1. 4 to 5 years of experience in Xojo
    2. Should have good communication and should be able to interact with client and gather

This is from Prabhu R who is a Technical Recruiter at VDart Inc. in Tiruchchirappalli Area, India.

Weird, but glad I'm not the only one seeing this!

In the end during about 36 hours I got 10 voice mails and probably 15 emails. One guy was honest and did not even know how to pronounce Xojo and had never recruited for that skill. He said the max rate was $50/hr. After a while I started playing with the guys and I got one all the way to $140/hr from his initial offer of $50/hr. He wanted me to furnish some details in an email and my commitment that I would show up in PA. No review of any technical skills by a single one of the recruiters.

Every single call and email probably originated from India or at least an India based company.

This all happened from Thursday mid day until Friday late.

From what I experienced and what I could get out of these guys I think this was some sort of real Xojo requirement at Merck in their Gwyneth PA location. There was another company that was India based that appears to be a Merck provider and all of these recruiters were feeding people to that provider. I believe that most of them would agree to any rate to get your resume in the door first. I think they realized that good Xojo skills were very scarce. From there you would either come down on the rate or get kicked out.

I doubt seriously if this is in any way shape or form a legit job offer.
    If it were.

    • Why would they hire dozens (if not hundreds) of 2bit recruiters instead of one reputable one?
    • Why (if this is so critical) has the "opportunity" been open for over 18 months
    • The Merck Provider is supposedly HCL America (which yes, is based in India)

I think you mentioned the real intent in you posting above

@Mark S He wanted me to furnish some details in an email and my commitment that I would show up in PA

    Its is Phishing expedition.....

I have been contacted in excess of FIFTY times via email and/or telephone calls...

@Mark S No review of any technical skills by a single one of the recruiters.

Because they don't "know".... "Thats the job of the HR department" according to these guys.... Uh, no... your job is to screen candidates.... which of course the can't/won't/are unable to do....

I'll bet $$$ to Donuts that not a single member of this forum EVER sees a legit contract (let alone a paycheck) related to this situation

Since everyone I truly interface with uses my cell phone, I've now added the magic tri-tone to the start of my home phone answering machine message. The call trees disconnect immediately and the number of these I've received over the last year has dropped to less than 1 every 2 months (and free cruises, student loan forgiveness, payday loans, 75 savings for staying at one of our luxury resorts previously, etc.).

I grabbed the tones from this site (and they also list the freqs and durations if you prefer to create your own):

Did you get a free cruise on the Nil (yes, Aegypt) ?

I get that, years ago, and I asked about the plane ticket fee (I had to pay for this): I ansered - if so - the lady that I am able to pay for the Nil cruise by myself ;)

Next they will be calling about a Xojo software engineer position on a Nil cruise in Aegypt.

    Still nothing.

    Not one.

But I'm fine with that. No, really! Not offended at all.

    Not even slightly.

    Fine. By. Me.

North Wales, Upper Gwynedd and West Point are very close to one another. Merck has buildings in all of them. Merck is an active client so they do contract with Xojo developers. They also have contractors in India that are very aggressive in trying to replace American contractors.

Although there is opportunity at Merck, it's unlikely that these unprofessional recruiters will deliver, even if they are surprisingly legit.

What makes you think that anything about this is legit? Merck and HCL America both deny such an opportunity is available
not to mention if it were legit, why would they not have filled it in the last 18 months or so?

There is opportunity but probably not through those folks. As you've suggested, it's likely they are scammers. I wanted to point out that they are using bits of real information, perhaps in an attempt to make their ploy more believable.
