FREE trials are allowed on the Mac App Store

From AgileBits, the makers of 1-Password.
Thankfully Apple gave us a wonderful present at their Worldwide Developers Conference last year that made this possible for Mac App Store users as well.

1Password now comes with a 30 day free trial in the Mac App Store. Those downloading 1Password for the first time will start their trial and be prompted to subscribe once their trial expires:
Please correct the title.

Indeed, but I do wonder two things.

 1. Can this be done without using IAP?
 2. As more software moves to subscription, this might actually work.

@Sam: “FREE trails”. I had really wondered what that would be.

Ha ha… I’d love a trial map of my local area; instead I’m creating my own slowly!
