    @FrederickRoller Rasbian Jessie - May 2016 (2016-05-10)

    I noticed that this latest Jessie distribution upgrade increased the stability of the Raspberry Pi 2 B and the GUI seems to be more responsive.

    @Eugene D I noticed that this latest Jessie distribution upgrade increased the stability of the Raspberry Pi 2 B and the GUI seems to be more responsive.

    Some of the additional stability and responsiveness may be due to the newer Linux kernel. 4.4 is an LTS (long term support) release and an excellent one.

    pigpio sounds interesting, especially with the close timing that seems to be possible. Would that mean there could be an alternative to NeoPixel drivers without Arduino or similar?

    Just a friendly note that the latest update had somehow disabled WiringPi. After reinstalling WiringPi then everything was working again.

    This was on Raspberry Pi 2 B.

    If you haven't tried Pixel, well, you should! It makes the Pi (particularly the Pi 3) a really nice little alternative desktop, especially with an "official" build of Chromium. If you've only tried Raspbian from a year or two ago, you will see some really nice improvements.

    You can even try Pixel on your Mac or PC - see https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=168852
