Webloc Opener

Mac OS X uses a particular internet shortcut format with the extension .webloc that Windows does not recognize. As more people exchange data between Mac and PC, or use Virtual Machines to run Windows on Mac, it is often annoying not to be able to open shortcuts coming from the Mac.

Webloc Opener is a small Windows program that you copy to the desktop. To open a webloc file, drag it over Webloc Opener, and it opens in the default browser.

If that program can open the .webloc file then it is probably not using the older resource fork based file format, so you can simply open it with a text editor as the .webloc files are usually just plist files (which are XML files)…

Indeed, a webloc file is an xml file, all webloc opener does is to open it, read the url and opens the default browser with it. Which Internet Explorer, Chrome or even Safari Windows do not know how to do…
