Raspberry Pi OS (32-bit) - May 2020 (2020-05-27)

Raspbian Jessie with Pixel - January 2017 (2017-01-11)

Still no release notes but here are a few comments from an engineer on their forum.

  • Exactly the same image as the previous one. The only difference is that the boot partition is FAT32 instead of FAT16.
  • In some edge cases, the bootcode deals with FAT32 better than FAT16. I don’t know the specifics.
  • It is exactly the last image, just with the first partition formatted differently. All the package versions are the same.
  • Normally there is a period of internal testing and a few revisions before a proper release goes live. It was either releasing a whole new updated image without testing, sticking to what we know works (and the issues we already know about) or saving thing modification for the next release. The first option ‘should’ be fine, but that’s exactly when things go wrong. There hasn’t been a release scheduled in the next few weeks and there’s no time to do one now, so that only leaves the second option.

Raspbian is really coming along nicely, my daughter uses it regularly on her Pi and I’m quite impressed with the level of polish it’s starting to get.

Agreed. When I demonstrate it to family and friends, they’re amazed that such an inexpensive computer can do so much. The polish makes it that much more impressive.

RASPBIAN UPDATE: FIRST-BOOT SETUP WIZARD AND MORE
https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/raspbian-update-june-2018/

Teaser alert
I have been dedicating time to update the Raspberry Pi book with the Strecth OS and Xojo 2018 r1.1

Hello all,
I just bought the first Raspberry PI 3B+. I have been using an VF61 from Toradex earlier with WINCE. Developing solutions for Industrial application. The VF61 has WinCE which loads into memory on booting and hence protected by bad shutdowns. I have read everywhere that the Raspbian with Desktop has issues with improper shutdown (plug pulled off). I can not expect end users to use execute the proper shutdown procedure.
So my question : Is it possible to boot the Raspbian Stretch Desktop into readonly memory. For data persistence I will use a different partition. I am planning to test XOJO app to Desktop version. For those who might be interested to know what application. Please read on
I will be developing an application which will interface with USB Barcode Scanner. It will track the barcodes read and log the data into a remote mySql.
Thanks in advance to all.

Ooh! I’ve got to get me a Unicorn Hat! :D.
